March 2001 - The Premier Company, Houston, Texas, has been certified by the United States Postal Service to process mailings with Delivery Confirmation at the electronic option rate for Priority Mail, Express Mail, and Standard B Mail. 

 

According to the Houston Post Office, Premier is the first mailing service provider in the Greater Houston area to be certified and to produce delivery confirmation mailings.  The new system will process customer's electronic mailing data, upload the data to the USPS, and automatically generate barcoded labels for tracking purposes.  A computer generated manifest report is prepared to document details for mailings.  Signature confirmation mailings may also be processed. 

 

At the present time, the postal system is considering extending delivery and signature confirmation services to First-Class mail.
